In 1995, redundancy forced a career rethink for founder, Matt Carroll, and the Gower Charcoal Company was born. The aim of the company was to convert neglected coppice into saleable items, ie. barbeque charcoal. The Forestry Enterprise provided a woodland site on Gower, South Wales, and continued to provide support for the project.
Demand for other woodland products has increased over the years and has overtaken charcoal production in its importance to the business.
Woodland Management, as a service is also in demand and one site has just received an Award of Merit from the Forestry Commission.
